All Natural Carpet Cleaner contains 1 part , 1 part water and about 5 drops rosemary and 5 drops lavender (you could really just use one but I don’t like the smell of lavender or rosemary by themselves and I didn’t have any other oils available). The results weren’t spectacular but they were noticeable. My carpets look cleaner and my house just smells refreshed. Which was precisely the result I was going for.
I hate carpet, but I do have one room in my house with carpet plus a few area rugs around the house. Like any other flooring, it needs to be cleaned from time to time. My only concern is the chemicals in commercial carpet cleaners/solutions. With my second baby due anytime now, I wanted to clean my carpet and rugs to prepare for her arrival. This is what led me to decide to make my own all natural carpet cleaning solution. No chemical scent, no synthetic ingredients and no worries!
Although it has a pungent smell on its own, white vinegar is a powerhouse of all natural carpet cleaning. Mixing the vinegar with an equal amount of water in a spray bottle can be a great way to treat individual stains, especially pet urine stains. Spray the vinegar solution over the entire stain liberally and allow it to soak into the fibers, then blot up the mixture and stain with a clean sponge or cloth. You may have to repeat the process, but vinegar is very effective.
