  • Was your darker hair dyed dark or was it virgin? If it was dyed, I would use a color remover like one n Only Colorfix from Sallys first. If it wasn't dyed, or you still have ginger after the color remover, I would recommend bleaching it with a good bleach like wella blondor creme bleach or matrix light master powder bleach, but ideally you should wait at least a month from your last dye/bleach to do it. I would lighten it to a gold, no ginger, and tone it with a violet semi diluted in conditioner. A semi violet or neutral based light brown diluted in conditioner would be the best way to go, but I don't know of any semis that fit. So in cases like these, I recommend using a demi in a neutral base that is a level lighter than desired, so like an 8N. They come out a little darker on lightened/bleached hair which is why I recommend going a shade lighter.

  • Matrix Light Master Bleach is a powerful, high speed lightener with conditioning Pantehnol, which helps with moisture retention. It reduces yellow undertones to reveal clear, sparkling, ultra light tones. Creates a higher lift, even on scalp, and a maximum lift of up to 8 levels.

I feel like I tag @ksiepierski everywhere, haha! She uses matrix light master bleach and swears by it. From what I remember, you don't need a very high volume as it's apparently the nectar of the bleach gods. :P I would say try 20 vol, but try a strand test with both on different sides of your head to compare them. It's hard to say what to do as everyone's hair is different.
