  • Both Tides removed the mustard and Dijonaise. Tide With Bleach Alternative left a white mark where the mustard had been, but otherwise didn't fade the red shorts. The ketchup-stained white shirt was a different story. Tide With Bleach Alternative removed the stain completely, the plain Tide didn't. Yvonne concluded that the stain-removing property of each detergent was similar, but recommended that folks buy Tide With Bleach Alternative, since it costs the same and does additional work.

Yvonne used some old clothing for the experiment, made two stains on each item, and let the stains sit overnight. She smeared red basketball shorts with mustard, blue denim jeans with Dijonaise, and a white T-shirt with ketchup. The next day she filled three 60-ounce containers with cold water and a cup of Tide and three with water and Tide With Bleach Alternative. She soaked each stained piece for 30 minutes in each solution, swished and lightly scrubbed each item, ran them under running water for three minutes, and then let them dry overnight. She said she wasn't surprised with the results.

  • I love my bleach, especially on certain whites, but lately I've been noticing a certain yellowing that the bleach is causing on my favorite white t-shirts which led me to try out a bottle of my favorite Tide with Bleach Alternative.

I wasn't sure at first if this would perform as well as regular bleach does but I needn't have worried. I washed my favorite cotton blend t-shirts with this formula in hot water and everything came out beautifully clean. It even seemed to remove the hint of yellow that the bleach had produced!

I was going to keep this strictly for my whites but then I ran out of my regular detergent and decided to give it a go on my towels and sheets as well and it worked equally well. There was absolutely no fading and everything came out ultra clean, even a towel that I'd used to wipe up a spilled jar of sugar scrub with oil! There were no stains!

The scent is also very pleasant. It's very neutral and everything just comes out smelling fresh and clean and not overly scented.

I definitely recommend this for those things that you want to be bright and clean, but not yellowed.

Yvonne hasn't had as much experience removing stains. In fact, she admitted she hardly ever does laundry. She got interested after watching Tide commercials. She couldn't understand why the manufacturer would advertise one of its own products against the other: The commercials said Tide With Bleach Alternative leaves clothes brighter. Yvonne thought it would be fun to find out if one really did a better job than the other. She doubted it made a difference.
